Abdi Mohamed, 40, was born in the city of Dessie, located in the northern highlands of Ethiopia. A passionate and expressive painter, Abdi pursued his formal education from the Fine Arts Department of Addis Ababa. Abdi contributes to the next generation of Ethiopian artists as a lecturer at the Addis Ababa University School of Fine Arts. He is deeply rooted in the vibrant art scene of the capital, where he lives with his wife.
Abdi’s primary medium is oil paint, which he skillfully employs to create rich, textured compositions. His work is notably inspired by the natural beauty of flowers—symbols he often uses to explore themes of growth, beauty, resilience, and cultural identity.
