This policy explains what Makush Art Gallery does with your information when you use this website. We have written it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.
Who we are
Makush Art Gallery is a trading name of Habesha Merkato L.L.C., a limited liability company registered in the United States. We sell original artworks by Ethiopian artists. Our gallery is at Bole Road, Mega Building, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Inventory sold through this website ships from 47644 SE Marmot Rd, Sandy, OR 97055, United States. You can reach us through our Contact page.
What we collect
When you browse
Our host and our analytics record standard technical information — the pages you view, your approximate location derived from your IP address, your browser and device type, and the site that referred you. We use this to understand which artworks and pages people are interested in.
When you place an order
We collect your name, billing and delivery address, email address, phone number, and the details of what you bought. We need this to take payment, calculate delivery, ship your artwork and deal with any problem afterwards.
When you contact us
If you call or write to us, we keep what you send so we can answer and to keep a record of the enquiry.
What we never see
This website does not take card payments. We do not receive or store card numbers of any kind. Payment for an artwork is arranged with you directly after your order is placed.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We share it only with the services needed to run the shop:
- Shipping calculation. When you view delivery options, the contents of your basket and your delivery address are sent to Calcurates, our shipping rate service, so it can request live prices from carriers.
- Carriers. Your name, delivery address and phone number are given to UPS or FedEx so they can deliver your artwork, and to customs authorities where an international shipment requires it.
- Hosting and site services. This site is hosted by Pressable and uses services from Automattic, including traffic statistics and spam filtering for comments.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
We publish our own artworks to our Instagram account from this website. That process sends the artwork’s photograph, title, artist, size, price and description to Instagram. It does not send us anything about you, and it does not collect information about visitors to this site.
Cookies
This site sets cookies that keep your basket and your session working while you shop, remember choices such as your delivery address while you are checking out, and support the traffic statistics described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, but the basket and checkout will not work properly without them.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for as long as we need them for accounting, tax and warranty purposes. Enquiries that do not lead to an order are kept while they are useful and then deleted. Analytics data is retained in aggregate.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will do so unless we are required to keep it — for example, records of a completed sale. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your local data protection law; those rights are unaffected by this policy.
To make a request, contact us using the details on our Contact page. We may need to verify who you are before we act.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update this page and the date below.
