Ashenafi Mitiku was born and raised in Addis Ababa. He graduated from the Fine Arts program at Addis Ababa University and is now a 45-year-old full-time studio artist living in the city.
Ashenafi’s artistic inspiration is deeply rooted in the Ethiopian Orthodox Church and its rich ceremonies. Having grown up within the church community, his lifelong connection to its traditions and spiritual practices profoundly influences his distinctive style and subject matter.
