Kemal grew up in Addis Ababa. He is self taught with him starting to draw at a very young age. He is 36 years old, a full-time studio artist, and he lives in Addis Ababa.
Kemal is a mixed media artist whose work is deeply rooted in his experiences traveling throughout Ethiopia during his youth. The diverse landscapes of the country serve as lasting sources of inspiration, sharing the themes and textures of his art. Working primarily with layered mixed media, Kemal constructs compositions that reflect the complexity and beauty of the world around him. Each layer tells a story, evoking memory, movement, and meaning.
