Nebyou was born in Addis Ababa. He graduated from Fine Arts program of Addis Ababa University. He is 43 years old, a full time studio artist, and he lives in Addis Ababa. He is married and has two kids.
Nebyou is not only an artist but also a pastor in the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. His work is deeply spiritual, often centered around the symbol of the “big eye”-an angelic eye commonly seen in the sacred art and architecture of Orthodox Churches in Northern Ethiopia. For Nebyou, the angel eye represents divine presence, protection, and a constant spiritual gaze. His paintings reflect a fusion of religious devotion and visual storytelling rooted in centuries old Ethiopian traditions.
